Dark aardvark - logo design

Dark Aardvark is a start-up gaming company created by Natalie Saunders to bring digital enhancements to table-top games. Their goal was to provide game additions across gaming systems and show the busy gamer that they can easily and affordably add innovative materials to their gaming experience. Natalie turned to Pixel Loon to create a logo that conveyed the cutting edge/modern twist she would be adding to traditional games.

The client came to us with the concept of an aardvark silhouette and the color purple included in their original logo idea. Our initial concepts aimed to include purple as a way to convey the creativity, imagination and whimsy that Dark Aardvark Gaming would embody as well as the silhouette of an aardvark.

One concept added more detail by way of tree silhouettes and a gradient moon shining down to pay homage to the dark games that would be included in their packages such as World of Darkness and Mutants & Masterminds.

We presented another initial concept that simplified the logo down quite a bit but kept the kep components. The purple "window" represented the gateway between the traditional table-top games and the modern digital enhancements.

We moved forward with the simplified concept and cleaned up the gradient for the final logo. We also trimmed the back of the aardvark to give it a polished look and altered the front feet to convey a walking motion - as if the aardvark was literally stepping into the modern era of digital enhancements for table-top games.

Our finished logo is better than I dreamed it would be. If I ever need another logo or one of their other services, Pixel Loon is the only place on my list to go to.
